One fine day, lightning came unannounced,
A quarrel left the family, like a deserted town.
Persistent, the daughter wanted to leave,
Ambition catered her need, for more space to breathe.
She shouted, ‘don’t you want to see me live’?
‘I will do what I want, dare you intervene’.
Father cursed his own fate for the first time in his life,
‘I am not your enemy, understand me, my naive child’.
Dare to dream, go after what sets your spirit free,
But don’t lose your sanity just because you didn’t succeed.
She stormed off, interrupting him midway his speech,
He tried to pacify her but fell straight across the street.
Walking off she realized, a father’s love for her daughter,
Is the greatest joy, career over family, isn’t the right ploy!
Too late too little, as a speeding car came running by,
It honked loudly, flashed constantly it fog lights, but…
Father was hit, teary eyed, he cried, ‘so death arrives’.
Dazed, she came running by and said, hold me, you won’t die’.
In his last words father said, ‘I have always loved you child’,
Making up with you after a tiff, it wasn’t indifferent this time.
