What's the difference between 'staying alone' & 'loneliness' anyway?

From the time we come to our senses, we yearn. For people, for emotional, casual relationships. We look for someone to accompany us as we embark on this ride called life. It by no means is wrong as we are designed to be social. But the problem is when we base our very existence upon the notion that our needs can only be fulfilled once we have 'another person' in our life. We quiver with fear, breathe insecurity when we are left to ourselves. Most of us dread it. When lonely, we tend to think that we will be exposed to a world where we won't survive, won't succeed because we have no one to share those intimate, grief, and euphoric moments of our lives with. While it's partially true & people do form the cornerstone of our lives but do we actually need them to complete us?

Relationships arise out of 'needs' & 'wants'. We choose whom we want to stay with and whom we want to part ways with. Sometimes, we choose none but us. We rarely prod ourselves into being a much secure & content person because we are afraid of moving away from dependency. We love it in films, books, the voyage of self-discovery, those Kurt Cobain songs about being an outcast without shame but we rarely do imbibe it, do we?

In most cases, we crave for a human equation because we want to 'fit in' as per a template set by the society, set by us. We want to socialize because we don't want to be left behind, be self pitied upon, a sorry person so to speak. We desire validation, acceptance. This insecurity is one of our biggest miseries. Not all get it, staying alone is also a choice like happiness. We define our rules, our comfort. And, it can be our own little world that we build for ourselves. Even if we are the only real residents of it. Be imperfect. Float or fly, the way you like. It's ok to have one friend or none. If it comes, it comes, if it goes, it goes. But in this process what we also realize is that we have discovered parts of our own soul #travelwriter #writerdiaries #travelblogger #travelphotography #travelandliving #writerscommunity
